A volcano in southwest Iceland has begun erupting in an uninhabited valley positioned not removed from Keflavik Airport, the nation’s worldwide air visitors hub.
The Icelandic Meteorological Workplace urged folks to not go close to the Fagradalsfjall volcano, which is positioned some 32km (20 miles) southwest of the capital, Reykjavik.
Individuals on Wednesday gathered to look at the dramatic pure spectacle unfold, which occurred simply eight months after the volcano’s final eruption formally ended.
“It’s simply loopy,” photographer Gunnar Freyr mentioned after witnessing the eruption. “I assumed the eruption was going to occur, perhaps like in a couple of weeks and now it’s right here and it’s so lovely.”
Keflavik Airport remained open and no flights had been disrupted.
