Investigating an epidemic of violence towards ladies in Mexico.

Day-after-day in Mexico, round 10 ladies are murdered – nearly all the time by males.

It’s an epidemic of gender-based violence that threatens to spiral uncontrolled.

Now, specialised police squads are attempting to reverse the development and convey the responsible to justice. However can they overcome years of machismo tradition and indifference?

Up to now, too many murders of girls have been half-heartedly investigated or just dismissed as suicides. Particular Prosecutor Sayuri Herrera says that hitherto perpetrators have relied on long-standing prejudices to evade the legislation. “They depend on us believing their lies as a result of society has someway all the time proved them proper,” she says.

Mexico’s devoted femicide detectives, Herrera insists, are actually starting to problem that assumption. For this movie, reporter Sarah Ferguson went behind the scenes to gauge their possibilities of success.
